Route 28A, near Woodstock, New York

This is a fabulous private compound on the Ashokan Reservoir. There are 2 houses with as many as 6 bedrooms and 4 baths. You and your extended family can be together and yet have your own space. There is a pool, tennis court, gardens, decks, a patio and PRIVACY.

Just 11 miles from exit 19 on the NY Thruway, 10 minutes drive from Woodstock, and 90 miles from the George Washington Bridge, this convenient and easy-to-get-to enclave encourages a complete change of attitude. Trees, flowers, birds and frogs welcome you. The New York City Watershed surrounds this property on 3 sides - hence total privacy and a great place to really get away from the hassle of everyday life.

    The Grounds
Swim in the 50-foot oval in-ground pool or just sun yourself on the beautiful blue stone patio that surrounds the pool. It basks in the sun from mid morning to early evening. There are chaise lounges and chairs so really all you have to bring are your pool toys. There is a pump-house to store your toys and bikes. There are lots of frog who love the pool. Don't let their croaking disarm you as they like finding places to amplify their voices.

For a change of pace, walk down a staircase and play tennis on the full-size tennis court. Don't hit the ball over the fence and expect anyone to return it to you. The only neighbors near the tennis court are the woodpeckers, cardinals and blue jays that don't always hide.

The bedrock stone patio that separates the houses features perennials, table and chairs and other lounging furniture, a barbecue. There is also a meditation garden and a rock garden. Want to add some rocks or want to sit and read a book, these special corners promise to a lot of quietness and visual enjoyment.

There is one bathroom with a shower on the ground floor and the bath on the second floor has a tub/shower.

The Barn-like house has 2 bedrooms on the ground floor, each having access to a deck. One is a two room suite. The Master bedroom is upstairs and is very large with a master bath with a walk-in shower and claw-foot bath.

The main floor living and dining areas look out at gardens. The screen-in porch off the kichen (also known as the tree house) can serve as the summer dining room or a another room to escape to and away from everything.

The Area
This little corner of the Hudson Valley offers many things to do from shopping to sightseeing to outdoor sports. Best of all you don't have to do anything because once you are here, you can relax. Stay home and have a romantic evening cocktail in the treehouse. Alternatively eat out at one of the many great restaurants in the area and come back for a midnight swim.
